Summer Mycoblitz and Mushroom Walks

The annual Summer Continental Mycoblitz runs from July 31st to August 9th, and Nature PEI is hosting two events suitable for all interested in mushroom-hunting and contributing to citizen science.

Mycoblitzes are taking place Saturday, August 1st, 1PM, Valleyfield Demo Woodlot, 511 Dalmaney Road in Valleyfield; and Saturday, August 8th, 10AM, at Strathgartney Provincial Park.  Both will be led by naturalists and mushroom experts.  

Rosemary Curley will explore mushrooms and help participants with identification at Valleyfield Demo Woodlot on August 1st.  Ken Sanderson with organize collecting and identification at Strathgartney Park, and requests preregistration at <ken@hoperiver.ca>  

Nature PEI’s “Common Mushrooms of PEI”  key-card set will be given to participants (as supplies last). 

There will be Fall Continental Mycoblitzes in October — Saturday, October 3rd, 10AM-1PM, at Trout River Natural Area near Bloomfield, with Rosemary Curley, and Saturday, October 10th, 10AM-1PM with Ken Sanderson at Strathgartney Provincial Park.
