Sept., 19th, Up West Forest Fest!
Plan to come to Western PEI to celebrate Island forests and watersheds on Saturday, September 19th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the hub at Bloomfield Provincial Park, 38093 Western Highway (Rte 2). There will be displays, children’s activities, free barbecue lunch between 12-1PM, and music from the Riverside Boys. In addition to “wanders” (short walks) for all ages and abilities at the hub, there are six walks scheduled at various times and locations in Prince County highlighting bogs, edible and medicinal plants, a Lennox Island cultural walk, coastal forests, mushrooms, and general family walks.
The Up West Forest Fest is in its second year, and organized by a collaboration including Nature PEI, Western PEI watershed groups, Island Nature Trust, the PEI Woodlot Owners Association, the PEI Watershed Alliance, and others. The group recognizes the support of the PEI Wildlife Conservation fund for this event. The event is free and all are welcome.
More information is at the website (upwestforestfest.ca), and organizing groups will have updates on their social media platforms. Note that some walks have limited space and registration will be conducted through the website after Labour Day.
