October Nature PEI Meeting Presentation: The Nature of the Rivers of Egmont Bay
Nature PEI returns to a monthly meeting schedule on October 7th at 7:30PM at Beaconsfield Carriage House, 2 Kent Street Charlottetown, corner of West and Kent Streets. Following discussion on nature topics and sightings, and a fun fundraising raffle, presenter Denis Gallant will illustrate “The Nature of the Rivers of Egmont Bay”, starting at 8PM. **It will also be streamed live online on the Nature PEI Facebook site.**
Admission is free and all are welcome.
Guest speaker Denis Gallant notes, “I’ve always been interested in the natural world, so when I discovered iNaturalist in the late 2010s, it was a good match for me to start learning more on what’s around in my local environment. My main passion and enjoyment on PEI has come from exploring local natural places in mid-Prince County, encompassing Egmont Bay, Cascumpec Bay, and Malpeque Bay.”
Denis Gallant was born and raised at St. Chrysostome on the shores of Egmont Bay. He attended Dalhousie University and studied communications technology at Ryerson College in Toronto. Now fully retired from a 40-year career in telecom product development in Ottawa, he has focussed considerable volunteer time and effort with land conservation organizations, including the Nature Conservancy of Canada and Island Nature Trust in PEI, and similar land trusts in Ontario. His contributions to conservation have been recognized with a Heritage Award from the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation.
