Nature PEI’s June Meeting Presentation will be on “Mental Health Impacts of Natural Disasters – Hurricane Fiona” with guest speaker Pelin Kinay on Tuesday, June 3rd, 7:30 pm, at Beaconsfield Carriage House.
D. Pelin Kinay is a Climate Smart Lab researcher at the UPEI Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation in St. Peter’s.
Her primary research interests are climate change adaptation and its associated impacts on human health. She is also interested in “the nature of climates, whether local, regional, or global, as well as the natural and human-caused variables that influence climate change.” She is integrating her research into nature-based solutions (NbS) and climate change adaptation by looking into different regions. Mental health impacts of climate change on the island’s population is one of the subjects she highly focuses on.
Nature PEI meets on the first Tuesday of each month (October to June) at the Carriage House, 2 Kent Street, corner of West and Kent, Charlottetown. Admission is free and all are welcome. The meeting begins at 7:30 pm with a raffle and sharing of nature observations. Pelin will begin her presentation at 8 pm.
It will also be live-streamed on www.facebook.com/NaturePEI
